Frequently Asked Questions

Commercial Landscape Designs
Q. Why use a Landscape Architect rather than simply going to a contractor?

A. If you . . .
are willing to take a little extra time for a plan uniquely designed for your own needs and lifestyle,
desire a Master Plan to guide your landscape development for many years,
want a look which is your own, rather than one contractor's signature style,
want to obtain competitive bids on a single plan, or do all or part of the work yourself,

... then you may want the services of a Landscape Architect.

Viburnum in Autumn
  Q. May I choose the plants, or have input into the design?

A. Absolutely! I will work with you, revising the plan in response to your ideas and needs.

Shady Garden
  Q. How much will a Landscape Master Plan cost?

A. The cost depends upon the size of the property and the complexity of the design that suits your needs. Generally, the plan for a new home on a one half acre lot is $1900-2900, and somewhat less for a smaller portion of a property. The cost for your plan may be more or less than this.

Summer Border
  Q. How long will a design take?

A. The plan development process includes meeting with the client three or more times to discuss first a Concept Sketch, and then the Master Plan. In most cases you can expect a completed Master Plan six to nine weeks from contract signing.
